Downtime for Dardel upgrade from 2-5 May 2023

Next Dardel upgrade

Dardel will be unavailable for the next upgrade from 2-5 May 2023. This time the disk system will be upgraded: its capacity will increase by 50% and the metadata performance will be improved. The cooling liquid in the original row of Dardel (that is, the first phase row) will be switched. HPE will change the water-based cooling liquid to a mix of water and glycol. Note that storage hardware will be physically installed during this period of downtime too. The file system configuration will be done later without any planned downtime.

Limited possibility to run long jobs from now till 8 May 2023

As part of the acceptance test for the second phase of the Dardel system, the High-Performance Linpack (HPL) benchmark tests will be run on the whole CPU system at different times until the 8^th of May. A few time reservations have already been made for this purpose, which means that there will limited possibilities to run long jobs (that is, jobs that would take several days to run) during this period. If you notice that a job that you submitted has not run, then, if possible, please try splitting the job into smaller parts, removing the long job and submitting several shorter jobs instead.
